Katherine Lyons was born horse-crazy. Though she grew up in the city with limited resources, she found her way into the horse world and never left. From as early as nine years old, she worked weekends and holidays caring for the horses at a rental stable in exchange for free rides when the stable was closed. The best barter ever! At the age of twenty, she bought her first horse (pictured on the home page) for $850.00 and has had a wide variety of cherished horses since then. Her journey included many jobs in the equine realm, including working student, barn manager, and even a racetrack groom. She has started young horses under saddle and spent several years working in a breeding and sales barn. She has worked in the production of Sporthorse auctions and accompanied horses in flight from Europe to the U.S. In her twenty-plus years as a dressage trainer, she helped many students find beloved horses to compete in dressage, eventing, and pony club.

As a rider, she did a little bit of everything growing up, but gravitated to dressage as an adult. She holds a USDF Bronze Medal, has competed successfully through fourth-level dressage, and has coached riders at all levels through Grand Prix.

As a bodyworker, Kat has a wide knowledge base to draw from and continues to seek out new techniques. Her education is rich and varied, encompassing many areas of both human and animal healing. She has studied anatomy and physiology in great detail and holds a post-graduate degree. Her methods cater to the individual needs of the horse rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. She has worked on all different types of horses—from backyard trail horses to Olympic competitors, and enjoys them all. Intuitive and empathic by nature, she connects well with horses and their owners.

Kat loves hanging out anywhere you can find horses and their people. On most days you will find her in a barn—working with horses and helping her clients troubleshoot riding, training, or other equine-related issues.

In her other world, she enjoys a good book, getting out in nature, and anything funny. She was lucky enough to find her unicorn (now her husband) while taking Improv classes, and they make each other laugh every day.

Kat has dedicated her life to making horses feel better and enhancing the horse-human connection. Working with horses and their partners is truly a gift, and she is grateful each day for being able to contribute.
